In this thoroughly explained, detailed lesson, I will teach you how to make advanced drop down flash menu in flash using the action script code and some special flash tricks. You will also learn the following Flash techniques:

Step 1
Open a new Flash document by selecting File > New > Flash Document.
Step 2
Select Modify > Document . Set the dimensions of your Flash movie to 250 by 250 pixels and set the speed (frame rate) to 28 fps. Select white as background color Click OK.

Step 3
Take the Rectangle Tool (R). Go over to the Colors part of the Tools panel and disable the stroke color. Select the stroke color, click the No color icon and then select #161616 color for the fill. See the picture below.

After that, click on Set corner radius icon and for corner radius set 4 points. See the picture below.


Then, draw a rectangle and make its dimensions 80 x 30 pixels . You can do this by drawing any kind of rectangle, selecting it with the Selection tool (V) and then entering its dimensions in the appropriate fields in the Property inspector.


Step 4
While the rectangle is still selected, press F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this rectangle into a Movie Clip Symbol. Call this Movie Clip whatever you like. I have called my "Menu". See the picture below.

Step 5
Double-click on the movie clip on stage with the Selection tool(V).You should now be inside the Movie Clip.

Step 6
While the rectangle is still selected, press F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this rectangle into a button. See the picture below.

Step 7
After that, double click on layer 1 to rename its name in button.

Then, click on frame 2 of layer button and press F6 key. It's time to create three other buttons, which will represent our drop down menu.
Step 9
Take again the Rectangle Tool (R). Go over to the Colors part of the Tools panel and disable the stroke color. Select the stroke color, click the No color icon and then select #ED1C24 color for the fill.
Step 10
Then, draw a rectangle over the first rectangle. See the picture below.

Step 11
While the new made rectangle is still selected, press F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this rectangle into a button.

Step 12
Double-click on the new made button on stage with the Selection tool(V).You should now be inside the button. See the picture below.

Step 13
Right-click on the Over state and select Insert KeyFrame.


Step 14
After that, while the rectangle is still selected, press again F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this rectangle into a Movie Clip Symbol.

Step 15
Double-click on the Movie Clip on stage with the Selection tool(V).You should now be inside the Movie Clip. See the picture below.

Step 16
While the rectangle is still selected, press again F8 key (Convert to Symbol) to convert this rectangle into a Movie Clip Symbol again.
